If working away over a hot stovetop just makes you all sweaty and stressed out by the time your guests arrive, then don’t! Why cook for your crowd when you can have caterers take care of the hassle for you.

You might have reservations about getting a caterer because you think your party isn’t fancy enough (“Caterers are for special occasions only!” you tell yourself) or because catering feels too impersonal (“I want to do something special for my guests,” you think), but there are so many options around town that can handle parties big and small, formal or informal. Many even can customize their offerings to meet your party’s specific needs.

Check out this listing below to see what’s available in the area. Before you begin your search for the right caterer, have an idea of how many guests you plan to have, what sort of budget you need to maintain, what variety of food you want and whether you need the assistance of servers. You should also check with each caterer to see what sort of notice is required — some can put together a small order in a matter of hours, but most need anywhere between 24 hours and a week.

Angel’s Food Market
Committed to providing the perfect food for every catered occasion, Angel’s Food Market offers assorted hot and cold starters, salads and dips. You can also pick up platters of cheeses, vegetables, fruit, deviled eggs, wings, shrimp or crab balls. Don’t forget about Christmas breakfast — Angel’s has breakfast solutions like pastries, Danish, sandwiches and quiche.

Anne Arundel Seafood

Anne Arundel Seafood offers four types of platters with varying amounts of shrimp, crab balls and salads, but the staff can create a custom platter with just about anything you need. Each platter feeds about 15 to 20 people and can be prepared with just a few hours of lead time.

April’s Table

April’s Table designs custom menus to suit each client’s tastes, using locally sourced and seasonally inspired ingredients. Choose between pickup or delivery. A full-service catering staff is available to serve all needs.

Bella Napoli

Count on Bella Napoli to satisfy your desire for authentic Italian fare this holiday. With its award-winning cream of crab soup and house-made mozzarella cheese, this Pasadena restaurant never disappoints. Amount of notice required depends on party size and menu requirements.

Be My Guest

An upscale formal catering operation offering freshly prepared, creative dishes, Be My Guest promises the best quality and exceptional service for your function, whether you have 50 guests or 300. Plan to place your order three to 14 days in advance.

Brian Boru Irish Restaurant

This holiday season, provide your guests some Irish hospitality by serving Brian Boru. Customize the perfect menu for your event with the help of Boru’s chef, who is even willing to take on your traditional family recipes. Brian Boru even offers event planning services, such as sending invitations or ordering the flowers.

Café Mezzanotte

Known for locally sourced, organic, farm-to-table Italian fare served with elegance, Café Mezzanotte can be enjoyed at home for your holiday party. Party platters are available in half-tray (feeds four to six people) and full-tray (eight to 10 people) sizes, and you can opt for pickup or delivery. You can even opt to hold a full-service, on-premise event in Café Mezz’s private room.

The Cheshire Crab

Don’t think this great dock-and-dine restaurant goes dormant for winter. With an enclosed dining space, Cheshire Crab can either host guests onsite or go to your home to take care of your catering needs. Choose from buffet or plated dinners, and make it as fancy or low key as you wish. Cheshire Crab even has bartenders and servers available for private parties at your home. Call 410-303-7465.

If your Christmas wish is to “eat mor chikin,” then you’re in luck. Get a Chick-fil-A nugget tray — or maybe a strips tray, fruit tray, salad tray, cookie tray or sandwich tray — for your holiday party.

Fifer’s Seafood

Serve up some holiday seafood with a party tray from Fifer’s. You can opt for platters of crab balls or another party tray from the menu, or you can customize your own. Homemade cream of crab, Maryland crab and oyster stews are available in 12-ounce, 32-ounce and gallon sizes.

Firehouse Subs

Pick up a party platter from Firehouse Subs for your holiday get-together this year. With only 24 hours’ notice, you can get a standard platter (single meat) or deluxe platter (double meat) along with salad platters, cookie platters and combo platters. Each platter is designed to serve 10 people.

Garry’s Grill

Whether you’re hosting a breakfast or dinner, Garry’s Grill has you covered. Catering packages are set up at per-guest rates and are available for perusal on the website, but if you don’t see something that meets your needs, Garry’s can create a custom catering experience just for you. Manager Nick Bordenski even remembers one year when a customer wanted turducken for Christmas dinner, and although the three-bird roast isn’t typically on the Garry’s menu, the staff was able to accommodate the request. “We’re pretty flexible with the menu,” Bordenski said. “We can do almost anything.”

Hellas Restaurant And Lounge

Hellas is always happy to help you feed your guests, no matter how many you’re having. Each Hellas party platter can serve anywhere from eight to 20 guests, depending on the variety you choose. Check out the platters menu on the website, and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, the Hellas team can customize something for you. Advance notice of 24 hours is requested.

Lauer’s Supermarket & Bakery

Did you know that Lauer’s Supermarket & Bakery can provide a full turkey dinner for Thanksgiving and Christmas? You can order it ahead of time (no later than Monday, November 20, for Thanksgiving, though sooner is better than later) and even do a day-of pickup (Lauer’s is open 7:00am-2:00pm on Thanksgiving Day). Lauer’s also has everything you’ll need for your holiday get-togethers — appetizers, salads, entrees, sandwiches and other party platters. All platters are made fresh to order, so please allow 24 hours’ notice.

Ledo Pizza And Pasta

Imagine having a Ledo buffet at your holiday party this year — you could be serving the restaurant’s signature square-shaped pizza or another Italian favorite. Catering by Ledo can feed a crowd at a great value — about $12 per person, on average. Ledo also plans to serve large portion sizes just as you would have at the restaurant. “I always tell people that if you have 50 people, I’ll plan to do it for 45 and guarantee you won’t run out of food,” said owner Martin Gorman.

Primo Pasta Kitchen

The folks at Primo Pasta Kitchen know that each event is unique in size and scale, so they are ready to work with you to create a menu that meets your needs and fits your budget. You choose party platters for pickup or deliver, or you can opt to have a fully catered function with full wait staff.

Two Rivers Steak & Fish House

Your holiday gathering might be a simple cocktail party, a casual buffet dinner or an elegant plated banquet, but however you plan to do it, Two Rivers Steak & Fish House has an option for you. Morgan Forbes, Two River’s event coordinator, said she and her team can handle anything — the biggest challenge is advance notice. “Everything is prepared fresh here every day, so we need to know ahead of time,” she said. To ensure the right products are in stock and the staff has sufficient time to accommodate your party, provide at least a week’s notice.
